with the deaths of theodore jaracz and john barr imminent and likely to coincide with the fast approaching 100 year 'anniversary' of jesus "invisible presence" as king since 1914, there will be some broad-sweeping changes to the society's 1914 creed.
in the last decade or so we seen a fairly consistent trend of the society being prepared to fiddle with and drop certain date-based interpretations.
this has been the result of the march of time simply painting them into a corner and revealing more of these old esoteric date-based prophecies to be false or in need of major adjustment.
I agree that changes will be necessary but witnesses have such short memories that the past beliefs become irrelevant as soon as they step out of the KH following a "new light" WT study.
Dozy, maybe things are different where you are but here our congregations are contracting and there are fewer elders and ministerial servants. Youngsters are leaving in droves. We've recently had a batch leave school and not one is pioneering. The only growth area is the foreign language field.
for you to get rid of that 'new personality' and get back to normal when you left the jw's?
How do you get back to normal when you were raised a witness?
This is the question for me too. All the same, I recognise that I have the dual personality referred to by Steve Hassan in Combatting Cult Mind Control and so do all of my siblings, raised in.

i'm so excited, many of you are already reading or have read this book.. i have ordered two of these today, combatting cult mind control , one for hubby and i and the other we hope to slip into the hands of.

HOPE 4 OTHERS- " Combatting Cult Mind Control" actually helped me even more than reading " Crisis of Conscience" as it described the whole psychological process involved in how any cult controls it's members.

I am reading Steve Hassan's Combatting Mind Control righ now and it's blowing me away. I found myself sobbing at page 52 suddenly, where he touched on the sadness of cult members never reaching their potential or exercising their talents. I think I was mourning my lost chances. It is impacting me emotionally on a whole other level to CoC.
Seriously, on virtually every page my jaw drops open and I think "wow, and I thought that was unique to JW's!!"

sorry this has turned out longer than i thought.anyway i lived the life of a single mother fell away from the organisation,and eventually met a (worldly) guy who is the most loving guy i have ever met,my best friend,lover and soulmate.i was disfellowshipped 4 months ago because we live with each other and plan to get married in september,unacceptable to the society hence my disfellowshipping.it has broke my mum and dads heart and im so so sorry for this,i love them so much,but no longer want or believe in the jw beliefs.
i still believe in god but dont know where im bound as regards my faith,i really do want to have something.
apart from my mum and dad and the shunning arrangement im so happy,the happiest i have ever been in years,and my 2 youngest ones are happy as well..my eldest daughter is 16 and planning on getting baptised in july which is tearing me apart,she is so like me,but is being brainwashed by a certain crowd of witnesses,need i say anymore...my eldest son who is 18 isnt in the truth and feels the same way i do... anyway thanks for this forum and hope to hear from likeminded friends soon.
